| | Trade rumors surround both of Maui's major leaguersJuly 4, 2012 - Robert ColliasThe bulk of the trade speculation for Maui's major leaguers this season had been for Oakland catcher Kurt Suzuki. It ramped up big-time after he recently started sharing his position with rookie sensation Derek Norris. As must be expected from Suzuki, he is taking it all the right way in the San Francisco Chronicle article in the link above. He is too valuable handling young pitchers and defensively to spend too much time out of the lineup, but he is clearly trade bait and reading between the lines in his quotes above, he knows it. Today, the Phillies' Shane Victorino acknowledged he has heard the trade rumors loud and clear in Philadelphia as his the N.L. East favorites flounder in last place with the trade deadline three weeks away. "If you're not winning, things like that happen," Victorino said of his trade possibilities in this story on Phillies.com. "I can't say where am I going to be tomorrow, next week or next month. I want to be in red. I want to be in a Phillies uniform. I want to be in Philly. That's where I want to be, so let's go out there and turn this thing around." Victorino is in a contract year and is hitting .251 with eight homers, 36 RBIs and 19 stolen bases. Suzuki, signed through 2013 with a club option for 2014, is hitting .208 with no homers and 16 RBIs. Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article. Post a Comment | |
