Ewaliko out for three weeks with broken rib
August 27, 2012 - Robert Collias
I just talked briefly with Keelan Ewaliko, Baldwin's two-time MIL Offensive Player of the Year, third-team all-state selection last year and University of Hawaii verbal commit, and he said he has a broken rib that will keep him out for the next three weeks. Ewaliko suffered the injury in the Bears' 46-0 loss to Saint Louis on Saturday night at Aloha Stadium.
Ewaliko was not in the mood to talk on the record, but Baldwin coach A.J. Roloos said that Ewaliko's longtime friend Ryan Graham, a 5-7, 150-pound senior transfer from Kamehameha Maui, will start this week against Maui High when the Bears open league play on Saturday at War Memorial Stadium. Graham finished the Saint Louis game.
Ewaliko is a major loss — he was the MIL rushing and passing champion last season, the first player in history to do that, and also won the state 200-meter title in track and was a member of the Bears' 400 relay state-championship team.
