| | Lotulelei a Butkus Award finalist, wrapping up a wild MIL FB weekendSeptember 25, 2012 - Robert ColliasBaldwin High School graduate John Lotulelelei of UNLV has been named a Butkus Award finalist, joining Punahou grad and Notre Dame standout Manti Te'o on the 51-player list from Hawaii. The Butkus Award is for the best linebacker in college football. BTW, since the last time I looked, John's younger brother Tau Lotulelei, a 2012 Maui High grad, has been added to the Rebels' roster, meaning he must be a walk-on who was added when rosters were allowed to expand after classes started. At 6-foot, 200 pounds, Tau, a linebacker like his brother, has got to be a major candidate to redshirt this season. Meanwhile, it was a wild weekend in the MIL — Lahainaluna not only can't be beat, the Lunas can't be scored upon; Baldwin may have struggled, but Abraham Reinhardt's special night clinched the first-round D-I title for the Bears; and Seabury Hall looks like the team to beat in the brand-new 8-player league. And, finally, here is how I voted in the Star-Advertiser and Scoringlive.com top-10 polls: 1. Kahuku, 2. Farrington, 3. Punahou, 4. Mililani, 5. Saint Louis, 6. Kamehameha Kapalama, 7. Iolani, 8. Lahainaluna, 9. Leilehua, 10. Radford. Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article. Post a Comment | |
