Coming up: Oktoberfest, a haunted hike and an anniversary
October 25, 2012 - Leah Sherman
I can't always be where I want to be. And some events come and go so quickly that I don't have time to catch them. But somebody out there has the time and desire to do what I cannot. So here are the highlights for the upcoming weekend.
Pacific Cancer Foundation's 3rd annual Oktoberfest (in association with Maui Brewing Co.) will be held from 12 to 5:30 p.m. at Wainee Park in Lahaina. There will be beer and music (by Visibly Shaken, Marty Dredd, Nuff Sedd, Maui Pranksters and Sounds of Addiction) and it's all for a good cause — the Pacific Cancer Foundation. Admission is $7. See the link at right for more information.
Saturday and Sunday
It's the weekend before Halloween, find your festive spirit (or other spirits?) on the Haunted Haiku Hike. During the tour of the Haiku hills, you'll cross paths with "The Headless Paniolo," find "The Cave of Moonshine Jim," encounter a "Zombie Camp," get lost in a "Haunted Maze" and hear what the future holds from the "Fortune-Telling Waterfall Gypsy."
The Haunted Haiku Hike is open Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. The cost is $20 for adults and $5 for children. See www.HauntedHaikuHike.com for directions. For more information, call 878-8091.
Saturday and Sunday
Sephora is one of my favorite places. There, I've said it. You now know my deepest, darkest secret. I go there when I'm sad, I go there when I'm bored, I probably go there when I'm happy too, but it gets hard to differentiate my emotions when I get near the store entrance because I'm overtaken by giddiness.
So, to say that I was excited when a Sephora store opened last year at Whalers Village is an understatement.
Has it already been a year?
I was there (again) earlier this week and what did I see? Fliers for the one-year anniversary event — this weekend. Sadly, I won't be able to make it back out to the west side. But go have fun for me. The flier states that representatives for several beauty product brands will be on hand. There will be giveaways and goody bags. DJBJ Live will be at the store Saturday. On Sunday, there will be a photo booth starting at 4 p.m.
The store is open daily from 9:30 a.m to 10 p.m.
