Lunas fall late, 36-33, in D-II state final
November 23, 2012 - Robert Collias
Final update: Lunas lose 36-33 to Iolani in the Division II state final when the the Raiders score the winning touchdown with 1:53 left. Read all about in Saturday's paper.
The Lahainaluna-Iolani Division II state championship game is about 24 minutes from its scedhuled kickoff at Aloha Stadium -- but a security guard just told my buddy Paul Honda of the Star-Advertiser that it will be delayed 15 minutes, until 4:15.
The Hawaiian Airlines Field at Aloha Stadium is soaked, rain is falling hard, and thunder and lightning is surrounding the setting.
That could be good for the Lunas, who run a lot more than Iolani does.
The Lunas are wearing white tops with red numbers and red pants for their second state final ever. They just entered the stadium to a rousing applause.
Iolani is wearing all black with white numerals.
Anyway, plenty of red-and-black Luna garb on my flight that was delayed by an electrical problem, but most of the folks in the stands are under cover.
