Hyundai TOC in weather delay
January 4, 2013 - Robert Collias
KAPALUA — The 30 PGA Tour winners here for the Hyundai Tournament of Champions were called in from the Plantation Course at 12:46 p.m. because of high winds and inclement weather.
It was the second delay of the first round Friday — the first one stopped play for seven minutes, beginning at 12:27 p.m.
Webb Simpson is the current leader at 3-under par through seven holes.
Three twosomes have yet to tee off, leaving the completion of the first round today in doubt. The event is scheduled to have its second round Saturday, third round on Sunday and conclude with the final round on Mondaty.
The specific reason for the delay, according to PGA Tour officials, was that balls were not resting once they hit the green on the 218-yard par-3 second hole. One official said that some balls had been blown as far as 15 feet after they had previously come to rest on the second green.
