Waiakea, Mililani advance at state baseball
May 8, 2013 - Robert Collias
The first two games are in the books at Maehara Stadium in the Wally Yonamine Foundation Division I state baseball tournament.
Mililani scored twice in the top of the seventh with the help of two errors to beat Waipahu, 2-1, in the first game. The Trojans advance to play No. 1-seeded Baldwin on Thursday at 7 p.m.
In the second game, defending state champion Waiakea rolled past Leilehua 14-3 in a game that went the seven-inning distance. The Warriors advance to face No. 2-seeded Mid-Pacific Institute in the quarterfinals Thursday at 2 p.m.
Right now, the third game of the day between Iolani and Kailua is scoreless through three innings.
Stay tuned right here for updates as I have time to do them and, of course, see our wall-to-wall coverage in the paper each day.
