Combine stellar food, sumptuous wines and live music, Nuff Sedd!
June 4, 2013 - Carla Tracy
When you combine stellar cuisine with sumptuous wines and live music, it’s “enough said” already. I am talking about the 32nd annual Kapalua Wine & Food Festival about to be uncorked Thursday to Sunday at The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua.
Specifically about the event’s popular finale on Sunday. Called simply the “Seafood Festival,” will it feature 14 of Maui’s top chefs, wine, spirits, beer and live music by Nuff Sedd. But there’s nothing simple about putting on such an elegant affair.
Each chef will prepare one hot and one cold dish such as Japengo’s hot poached Kona-abalone croquettes and cold cured salmon wrapped in shiso leaf; and Honu Seafood & Pizza’s hot Molokai shrimp aguachile and chilled mahimahi ceviche with corn tortilla chips and edamame guacamole.
Other participanting establishments are Fleetwood’s on Front St., Kahana Grill, Makena Beach & Golf Resort, Star Noodle, Hali‘imaile General Store, Roy’s Kaanapali, Maui Culinary Academy, Hula Grill, I’o, Pacific’o, Kai Sushi and The Terrace.
Wines will flow from Mollydooker, Mia Klein, Kosta Browne, ‘Olela, Sandhi, Continuum, Ovid Napa Valley and David Arthur. Many more are listed on the website if you would like more of an insider’s edge. Of course, you may sip these wines while mingling with the winemakers and other fun people who enjoy this event every year. Other highlights include the Grand Tasting on Friday evening, festival dinners at Kapalua restaurants on Saturday night, and wine tours on Sunday afternoon, locations to be announced. Just hop on a Kapalua shuttle and sip away.

Cheers! To another great year!
