Restating the Obvious

POSTED:Wed, August 27, 2008 @ 7:00PM

That's not a mosque

Among the more amusing wanna-be journalists who infest the blogosphere is zombie, who lives in the Bay area and posts pictures of the more-or-less round-the-clock demonstrations there.

The pictures really are funny when they're not pathetic.

Zombie usually doesn't add much text, which probably is just as well, because she's in Denver, taking pictures and, this time, writing. Charles Johnson at Little Green Footballs is feeding her "reports" out to one of the biggest blogiences in cyberspace. Prominent pixels are devoted to the effrontery of some group of Iranians who erected a mosque in a public park near the Democratic convention center.

Except it's not a mosque. It's a tent. (And if it were a mosque, so what?)

I went through the first few score comments, and the Football team doesn't seem to know the difference, either.

Johnson is quick to jump on gaffes by other people, especially left-handed ones -- he's the guy who skewered Dan Rather's fake Bush documents -- but it's been over a day now and he's still calling it a mosque.

Just thought I'd mention it, since nobody else has.

They're not allowed to step out of line over there. Believe me I know. ;-) Yours truly was pushing an intelligent and moderate Muslim woman's articles over there. It didn't go over well. But it's the same way they're not allowed to step out of line on left sites. I know that, too...

And my point is not that zombie made a mistake, or that Johnson made a mistake, but that not one of the Lizardoids, the self-anointed experts on Islam who are always handing out cluebats and laughing at mistakes, real or imaginary, in the MSM, of those hundreds of smug experts, not one knows what a mosque is.

Whadda buncha maroons.

The images should have been a clue even to the clueless.

A mosque also needs a mihrab, ablution facilities etc.

I saw that, too and thought one of the big things about Islam is that there are no images of people in and on the Mosques. That's why they have all those neat geometric designs.

But Zombie frequently has good things. He or she broke the story of Obama talking about small town Americans clinging to guns and religion from inside the Getty mansion on the richest city block in the world. Apparently. Politicians all seem to be the same -- just some more than others.
