The most successful summer ever for Maui youth baseball teams continued this afternoon as the Central Maui All-Stars won the Hawaii State Majors (11-12) title with a 2-0 victory over Waipio, a former world champion of Little League baseball.
The Central Maui state crown is the fourth of the summer for Valley Isle youth teams, joining the Mustangs (9-10), Juniors (13-14), and Big League (17-18) teams.
The Majors will play in the West Regional from Aug. 2-10 in San Bernardino, Calif., the Mustangs leave for their regional in Los Alamitos, Calif., Thursday, the Juniors will play in Vancouver, Wash., July 31-Aug. 7 in the West Regional, and the Kihei Big League (17-18) All-Stars advanced all the way to the West Regional semifinals before their summer season ended.
Four state titles, six state finals, and three teams still playing.
School starts soon, but will have to wait for 40 or so baseball players who have contributed to the best summer in Maui youth baseball history.
