Pearl City team that won here makes Senior World Series

August 7, 2013 - Robert Collias
The Pearl City team that was pushed to the brink by Central Maui for the Senior League (15-16) state title at Eddie Tam Field last month, is now headed to Bangor, Maine, for the World Series.

That was a loaded Central team that, with a break or two, could still be playing.

The football coaches at Baldwin, Kamehameha Maui and St., Anthony are all thankful that the Maui baseball team is done.

Baldwin starts play this weekend against Saint Louis and Noah Apolo is the starting center, while Shadd Santos and Nawai Ah Yen should each help the young Bears; Rylie Velez and Maile Santos will be on the gridiron for Kamehameha Maui in coach Cody Nakamura's debut when the Warriors take on Damien Saturday at Kanaiaupuni Stadium; and Colby Tam should be a standout for St. Anthony's eight-man team.
