Kamana-Matagi, Utah State finish season with bowl win
December 27, 2013 - Robert Collias
While he did not have a tackle in Utah State's 21-14 win over Northern Illinois in the Poinsettia Bowl, Elvis Kamana-Matagi finished up his junior season with solid numbers.
The most important is the 9-5 record for a Utah State program that has been down in the dumps for a long time, but has established itself well enough to endure a season-ending injury to star quarterback Chuckie Keaton.
Kamana-Matagi, the first King Kekaulike graduate ever to play NCAA Division I football, played in all 14 games for the Aggies and had 14 tackles, 2 1/2 for loss, and two quarterback hurries this season.
The 6-foot-2, 298-pounder has overcome a lot to get to where he is.
