Baldwin in control of MIL boys soccer with 2-1 win over King Kekaulike

January 22, 2014 - Robert Collias
The Baldwin boys soccer team took a major step toward recapturing the MIL title with a hard-fought 2-1 win over King Kekaulike on Tuesday night at War Memorial Stadium.

The Bears (7-0-2) stand alone on top of the standings and will be champions if they can take care of business against Lahainaluna (3-6-1), Maui High (1-8-0), and St. Anthony (0-7-0).

"We are a young team in general and to get knocked around a little bit, I thought we stuck with it pretty well," Baldwin coach Kane Palazzotto said. "We kind of knew if we won we put them (King Kekaulike) out pretty much."

King Kekaulike (7-2-1) has one more chance to return to the state tournament, but must beat defending champion Kamehameha Maui (6-0-3) in its next match to do so.
