Big, big weekend for pair of stellar Maui Ducks

April 25, 2014 - Robert Collias
University of Oregon junior Cassy Isagawa, a 2011 Baldwin High School graduate, will lead the Ducks' women's golf team into the Pac-12 Conference tournament today at Trysting Tree Golf Club in Corvallis, Ore. The 54-hole tournament ends on Sunday.

Isagawa is currently ranked 28th in the nation by Golfstat and 30th by Golfweek.

She already owns the best two season scoring averages in Oregon history and is on pace to break her own record. Currently, Isagawa has a team-best 72.28 round average.

Isagawa leads the team in top-10 finishes (7) and rounds at or below par (16). Isagawa finished sixth in the Pac-12 tournament last season.

Live scoring is available here.

Also this weekend in Corvallis, the 19th-ranked baseball Ducks (31-10, 10-5 Pac-12) will play a key three-game series against No. 5 Oregon State (27-7, 11-4).

Freshman Mark Karaviotis, a 2013 Maui High grad, has made 32 straight starts for Oregon at shortstop and is hitting .263 with two doubles, two triples and 15 RBIs.

This morning, Karaviotis was one of 35 shortstops named to the Brooks Wallace Award list for the nation's best shortstop. Karaviotis is one of just two Pac-12 shortstops named to the list. He has a .970 fielding percentage with four errors in 134 chances. He leads Oregon with nine sacrifice bunts.

Baldwin graduate Kurt Suzuki won the first Wallace award in 2004 as a catcher for national champion Cal State Fullerton when it was for the most outstanding college player in the nation — it changed to shortstops only in 2008.

Sunday's Oregon-OSU game will be televised live on ESPNU at 10 a.m. HST.
