Free advice and worth the cost

June 20, 2014 - Harry Eagar
So President Obama is going to send Special Forces advisers to the Iraq national army. What are they going to advise them to do, not run away?

The problem is not that the army doesn't know how to fight -- it may or it may not -- but that it has no reason to fight.

Didn't we learn anything in Vietnam? Obviously not.

UPDATE, June 22

Since America has 5,000 people in the Baghdad embassy, which is considerably over the estimated strength of the ISIS battle force that is routing the Iraq national army, it occurs to me that maybe the problem of the Iraq government is too much American advice already.

Domino effect of Islam extreme beliefs. Another Vietnam with the Domino effect of Communism.

Speculation ups the stock market.

Iraq was run by Saddam Hussein who is Sunni. Oil was never the issue. Stopping the flow of Islam extremists or WMD was. It was a Civil War and America does to this day, not know who is the enemy.

Oil prices already are up significantly, but I do not think that will hold. Iraq's production is not so large that it cannot be replaced.

Oil prices will be going up. Yet comments remain the same?

300 is probably symbolic, that more is to follow. 300 men were killed against Persians. The best of best are fighting. Rambo 5?

Still two cents.

300 against the Persians.
