Baffling words

I've been a professional writer for more than seven years, and there are still some words I spell wrong every time.

putting (as in "to put")     puting (although that doesn't look right either)
apologize                         appologize
lieutenant                         leutenant? lieutennant?? lieutenent?!? ARRR!
