Former Alii Lion leads PortlandWhen he was at tiny Kaahumanu Hou Christian School as an exchange student from Germany, there was no indication Robin Smeulders would do anything past being part of a team that mostly got pasted in the MIL.How wrong that perception was. Smeulders — now a 6-foot-9 power forward at prestigious University of Portland — scored 20 points in a shocking 80-74 win over Washington on Saturday night. The Pilots were 9-22 last year, but return four starters, including Smeulders.
