Farmers, Trojans, Sabers reach state baseball semifinals
HONOLULU — Both of the Maui Interscholastic League’s Division II representatives at the Wally Yonamine Foundation State Baseball Championships — Molokai High School and St. Anthony — won their quarterfinal games on Thursday, and Maui High advanced to the Division I semifinals.
Molokai got 11 strikeouts from Kaden Tabil in a 13-3, six-inning win over Honokaa at Central Oahu Regional Park, and St. Anthony defeated Maryknoll 9-1, with Michael Jahns and Joshua Hansen combining on a two-hitter.
Jacob Babauta pitched 4 2/3 innings of shutout relief for Maui High in a 6-3 victory over Kamehameha Hawaii at Les Murakami Stadium.
The fourth-seeded Sabers (14-3) will face top-seeded Punahou on Friday at 4:30 p.m. for a berth in the D-I championship game. Punahou beat Roosevelt 9-8 on Thursday.
Molokai (8-7) will play top-seeded Kauai on Friday at 3:30 p.m. Kauai beat Kohala 10-0 in six innings Thursday, with David Jordan Buster and Braden Balocan co
