MAKENA – For Brendan Moynahan, spending two weeks a few thousand miles away from his clubs, then getting a new driver the day before a tournament, turned out to be a recipe for success.
MOYNAHAN WINS ALOHA SECTION EVENT. Aloha Section PGA professional championship winner Brendan Moynahan blasts out of a trap on the Makena South Course’s eighth hole Tuesday during the second and final round of the tournament. Moynahan, a club pro at Hualalai Golf Club, shot a 3-over-par 75 to finish at 1-under 143, one stroke ahead of Eliot Gouveia, the Wailea Blue Course pro. Moynahan, Gouveia and third-place finisher Kevin Hayashi of Mauna Kea qualified for the PGA professional national championship scheduled for June 2007 in Oregon.
