SIX KIFFMANN ATHLETES TAKE TWO GOLDS

HONOLULU – Andrea Thyne of Kiffmann Taekwondo defeated U.S. Open champion Janelle Ben and won the women’s black-belt title at last weekend’s Hawaii Pacific Open.

Six Kiffmann athletes won two gold medals – Miles Kiffmann in the black-belt division and Kohoku Benevides, Jake Bonnell, Dayna Calubaquib, Peter Nelson and Jordan Soma in the color-belt division.

Also in the black-belt division, Angelo Delosso-Flocco won a gold and a silver, Jessica Thyne, Andrea Thyne and Kaylee Calubaquib each won a gold, Ciara Thyne won a silver and Soma won a bronze.

In the color-belt division, Camryn Henry won a gold and a silver, Isaac Owades won a gold, Alicia Schmidthans won two silvers and Kaylee Calubaquib won a silver.

Kiffmann won the overall team performance and sparring team performance titles, and was second in the forms team performance competition.

MAUI ATHLETES PLACE AT HERSHEY MEET

HONOLULU – Ten individuals and two teams from Maui finished in the top seven Saturday at the Hershey Meet at Punahou School and Mililani High School on Oahu.

Kailea Tracy won the ages 13-14 girls 200-meter dash, with a time of 27.84 seconds. Brandon Kaupe won the 13-14 boys softball throw (215 feet), Dakota Grossman won the 11-12 girls 800 (2:54.84) and Jesse Irwin won the 11-12 boys 800 (2:49.65). Maui also won the 400 relay (1:00.10). Jeremy Tabuyo took second in the 13-14 boys 100 (12.68) and 200 (25.99). Tracy took third in the 13-14 girls 100 (13.55).

Other finishers were Maya Palaroan (fourth in the 13-14 girls 100 and 200), the Maui boys 11-12 400 relay team (fourth), Hayden Franco (fourth in the 9-10 boys 50 and sixth in both the standing long jump and softball throw), Jesse Irwin (fifth in the 11-12 boys standing long jump), Aaron Naleieha-Victorino (fifth in the 11-12 boys 200 and seventh in the 100) and Gabriel Wilson (seventh in the 11-12 boys 400).

PUKALANI – Kamehameha Schools Maui is looking for a head coach and assistant coach in cross country and a girls volleyball head coach.
