Austrian pays $15 million for prize-winning horse

April 8, 2014
Associated Press

VIENNA (AP) — The founder of Austrian firearms maker Glock has bought a prize-winning stallion for 11 million euros ($15.15 million), in one of the priciest purchases of its kind.

Austrian state broadcaster ORF says the price paid by Gaston Glock includes the cost of the steed plus online auction and related fees.

Rider Gerco Schroeder of the Netherlands won two 2012 Olympic silver medals riding London, a 12-year old show-jumper. ORF said Tuesday that Glock would like to have Schroeder continue to compete with London at future events.
