STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: Chaclyn Barut

• PERSONAL: Age 18; daughter of Dennis and Lynn Barut of Kula; enjoys playing the piano, reading, sudoku, fishing on the boat with her father and “doing my homework!”



• AT SCHOOL: Maui High School Band president and member of the symphonic and marching/pep bands, member of the Maui District Honor Band, National Honor Society vice president, Key Club, Principal’s List.



• OFF CAMPUS: Kihei Assembly of God audio and visual technician, Maui Arirang Korean Dance Studio, Susan Asato’s Music School student and teacher’s assistant, National Society of High School Scholars.



• BEYOND HIGH SCHOOL: Plans to study mechanical engineering at a college on the East Coast.



• WHO IS YOUR PERSONAL HERO AND WHY? “My personal heroes are my parents because of their patience and perseverance in life. My parents are the most inspirational people I know. I admire and appreciate their guidance and genuine support with all my endeavors. My dad is a great provider, very resourceful and innovative. My mom is the strongest woman I know, with a limitless supply of words of wisdom and encouragement. Without a doubt, I would not be who I am today had it not been for all the support and love I have received from my parents.”
