WAILUKU — The state House of Representatives Public Safety and Military Committee will hold a series of talk-story sessions with veterans, beginning with a gathering on Maui.
The veterans series opens May 5, with a meeting from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Cameron Center. Among the issues to be discussed are the effectiveness of the Hawaii Office of Veterans Affairs and if the needs of veterans could be better served by transferring the office to another state agency. The multiple issues Hawaii’s veterans face, such as homelessness, unemployment and access to health care, will also be discussed.
There is also a meeting scheduled for Molokai from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. May 7 at the Molokai Veterans Compound.
