Kingdom lands belong only to Native Hawaiians

POSTED: May 8, 2008

Attorney General Mark Bennett is appealing the state Supreme Court’s ruling barring sales of Hawaii kingdom lands until the unrelinquished claim to those lands is resolved. He stated ‘’Nothing in the apology bill explicitly or implicitly impairs Hawaii’s sovereign right to control or alienate any of the lands that it owns.”

The owner was and still is the kingdom of Hawaii as the apology bill points out: “Whereas the Hawaiian people never directly relinquished their claim to their inherent sovereignty as a people or over their national lands to the United States.”

Boyd Mossman, who is pushing the Akaka Bill, stated “Once it is decided in a separate court case what entity will oversee the ceded (kingdom) lands it will take a political solution to fairly distribute lands.” That separate court case involves three elected officials of the Reinstated Kingdom of Hawaii arrested for exercising their government’s inherent right to manage and control Kahoolawe.

The defendants are asking the court to determine the Reinstated Hawaiian Government qualifies as the Native Hawaiian sovereign governing entity referred to in the Akaka Bill. Congress can only create a domestic dependent entity, not a sovereign entity. The Reinstated Kingdom of Hawaii has the inherent to control Hawaiian kingdom lands. A governing entity created by U.S. Congress doesn’t.

Until the political solution Mossman referred to, the recognition that the Reinstated Hawaiian Government represents the lawful owners of Hawaii kingdom lands, the Supreme Court ruling should stand. Keep Hawaiian lands in Hawaiian hands!

If you have a valid complaint, I am sure The Supreme Court will rule in your favor.

Swell Mom, Yahoo is a corporation, if you have a valid complaint I am sure the supreme court will rule in your favor.

On the contrary, Hawaii is and was a Kingdom. All of the acts that were "admitted" to be illegal should therefore be reversed and can hold no water as it was deemed "illegal." This is what I do not understand among GQ's complaints, is that if what America did to separate from England was "admitted" to be illegal, than America would therefore belong to the English. With Hawaii we were always a Kingdom and was overthrown "illegally." This means that the kingdom (whatever be it" is the legitimate government of Hawaii. Its simple comprehension but with the topic resulting in many ramifications, alot of people tend to resist it. Its a state of denial. Us Hawaiians were in the denial stage, the majority of us have come around to the proper realization and now we know what avenues to fight for. Whether you folks will listen or tur

It's the way I was raised. Accept things you can't control. Work for what you want. Give don't take. Life isn't fair. Fair isn't always fair. Take resposibilty, and don't blame. All the personality traits successful people have. Unlike the below mentioned.

One piece of advise I wasn't given....invest in Yahoo stock......wonder if the govt. will give it to me at an "affordable" price, or better yet free, after all, it is owed to me.

Swellmom...at one time I felt the same way "people wanting something for nothing - free hand-outs" It bugged me !#@&less especially since I worked a full & part-time job. Since then I've learned that much of the Hawaiian issues, complaints, arguments, fights etc...whatever you want to call it, is VALID and LEGITIMATE (History, OHA, Ceeded lands, the language/culture, etc, etc.) It's mind blowing! The saying "ignorance is a bliss" believe me it's true because once you know the truth, it changes you and things are never the same. People like Keaweiwi, Poholopu, KKaina, Mikaela, Anakela...they have extremely valid points. The knowlege is all around us - whether we accept it or not is an individual choice but the truth will always prevail!

Stereotype Hawaiians as extreme racists? ?Fodor claimed that the Hawaiians were an odd lot. They laugh in the face of adversity.

There is a stereotype that Hawaiian people are extremely racists. Hawaiian's have probably never heard this, because no one wants to say it to their faces. Due to this forum your are let in on the talk. Now that you have exposed yourselves to the rest of country they can read for themselves. I'll bet your people are real proud now. Fools.

"I am against people who want something for nothing. If I "hate" anything it is that thinking. Native Americans as well are the worst for thinking the world owes them something. I am against tax dollars going for people who don't contribute."

Unfortunately, people like Swellmom are unable to educate themselves beyond their own self-serving world. Pathetic.

I'm not an enviormentalist, I'm don't want to be an enviormentalist, I'm not going try to be an enviormentalist. Now, if you will excuse me, I have a veal brunch I have to attend. Enjoy your carrots. They are grown in this lovely tainted soil.

And , according to ur logic, if a company disposed of a bunch of poisons, burying them near ur house, & ur entire family became riddled with cancer-- u would be entitled to nothing b/c u did nothing except be a victim.

If you hate hand outs, then corporate welfare should bother u the most. They get the big bucks for their continued exploitation.

Bepono, I actually enjoy posting. Living in such a politically correct society it is refreshing to know what other people really think, something not a lot of people aren't conditioned to handle. As far as Hawaiian issues go, I am not against Hawaiians. I have many Hawaiian relatives, including my Step-Dad. I am against people who want something for nothing. If I "hate" anything it is that thinking. Native Americans as well are the worst for thinking the world owes them something. I am against tax dollars going for people who don't contribute. I think the only people who should get a hand out are the disabled and the orphans. If that makes me a racist, ( I am not white by the way), so be it. Most people who work for what they have, and don't expect hand outs understand what I mean.

Swellmom and GQ - I see a lot of your postings whenever an article is written about Hawaiians. What compells you to speak so dastardly about the Hawaiian people and their history? It perplexes me that you both mention connections to the Native American culture, who like the Hawaiian people, are very connected spiritually and culturally to thier lands and ancestors.

a bigot of any color is still a bigot. bigotry is born from ignorance and grows from an individuals frustration with himself. Leave the bigots be, they're miserable people all of them...

..and as we speak, the American nation of the USA is QUICKLY becoming DISMANTLED. Yes, large Arab companies now own at least 2 major US banks. When oil was cheap and being produced in the US, the US could expand and become a nasty bully with other countries. Now that US no more oil and gotta buy it at market price from the Arabs, the US is sinking into debt and the Arabs are making TRILLIONS and using that money to buy major US corporations. Soon the Arabs will OWN the US. Real SOON. You folks love America, you better get used to loving Allah too.
