• PERSONAL: Age 17; son of Mario and Demetria Pigao of Kahului; enjoys calligraphy, painting and tutoring.

• AT SCHOOL: Key Club, Japanese Club treasurer, National Honor Society, senior class secretary, Math League, Pacific and Asian Affairs Council.

• OFF CAMPUS: Christ the King Church, Kumon tutor.

• BEYOND HIGH SCHOOL: Plans to major in civil engineering and possibly attend graduate school.

• WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE BIGGEST PROBLEM FACING YOUTH TODAY?“The biggest problem facing youth today is pride. I believe things would be better if young people accepted their faults instead of trying to cover them up. I’ve seen many young adults blame others for their own mistakes, which consequently led to unpleasant confrontations. The greatest lessons are learned from our mistakes, and if we refuse to learn from them, we just keep making more and more. If we are able to realize our faults, then we are a step closer to changing our ways for the better.”
