Molokai residents to serve with state boards sworn in

KAUNAKAKAI - Lt. Gov. James R. "Duke" Aiona swore in 21 Molokai residents to serve on various state boards and commissions at a ceremony held Tuesday on Molokai.

The appointees and the boards they will be serving on are as follows:

* Vanda Hanakahi; 'Aha Kiole Advisory Committee.

* Robert Granger, Janice Kalanihuia, Jersula L. Manaba and Marlene Purdy; Governor's Molokai Community Advisory Council.

* Glenn Soichi Izawa and Dr. William L. Thomas Jr.; Tri-Isle Sub-area Health Planning Council.

* Malia K.H. Akutagawa, Frances Cobb-Adams, Sue Ann M. M. Hasegawa, Kekamaikaikamaikalani Helm, Elroy K.M. Malo, Manaba and Michelle Kananionapua Ayau Pescaia; Molokai Island Burial Council.

* Lori Leimamo Buchanan; Legacy Land Conservation Commission.

* Phil E. Kay; Mental Health and Substance Abuse, Maui Service Area Board.

* Steven L. Arce, James A. Boswell, Audwin A. Calairo, George Wellington Maioho and Richard K. Wheeler; Molokai Irrigation System Water Users Advisory Board.

* Peter Dean Gonzalez; State Council on Mental Health.

Nearly 1,300 people statewide serve on more than 160 boards and commissions established by the state constitution, Hawaii laws, or executive orders.
