The Maui News

LAHAINA - The Maui Bus will launch free service on a new Lahaina route Aug. 1.

The Lahaina Villager will loop through Lahainaluna, Wahikuli and the Villages of Leiali'i neighborhoods and continue through Lahaina town. There will be 17 stops on the route, including the Wharf Cinema Center, the Lahaina Aquatics Center, the Lahaina Civic Center and the Lahaina Cannery Mall.

The Lahaina Villager Bus will connect to existing Maui Bus routes serving areas such as Kaanapali, Napili, Maalaea and Wailuku.

Lahaina Bypass Now, a private group promoting transportation improvements in West Maui, will distribute schedules for the new route to Lahaina merchants during the week beginning July 28.

Route information can be found online at mauicounty.gov/bus or by calling Roberts Hawaii at 871-4838.
