MAUI BOOK PUBLISHERS ASSOCIATION OPEN HOUSE

Thursday (tonight), 5 to 6:30 p.m., Maui Mall

A woodworker chips away during last year’s Keiki Hula Festival at Lahaina Cannery Mall. The annual event returns to the shopping center this Saturday and Sunday, featuring hula, artisans and crafters.

The new Maui Book Publishers Association will be featured in an open house from 5 to 6:30 p.m. tonight at the Maui County Business Resource Center at the Maui County Store in Maui Mall. Various authors will be on hand displaying and selling their books, including MJ?Harden, Wayne Moniz, Gary Kubota, Lama Surya Das, Jill Engledow and others. Grammy-winning musician, and author of "A?Hawaiian Life,"?George Kahumoku Jr. will perform and sign copies of his memoir. KEIKI HULA FESTIVAL

Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Lahaina Cannery Mall

Celebrate the talent and grace of Maui's keiki at Lahaina Cannery Mall's 10th annual Keiki Hula Festival, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. This free event will feature seven halau (dance troupes) from across the island presenting richly choreographed kahiko (ancient hula) and auana (modern) hula. A free concert featuring Na Hoku award-winning slack-key artist Owana Salazar will close out the weekend event at 5 p.m. on Sunday. The weekend celebration will also feature Hawaiian artisans and crafters demonstrating lei making, wood carving and other traditional skills.

VOLUNTEER FAIR

Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Queen Ka'ahumanu Center

The County of Maui's Volunteer Center will host the Join Hands Volunteer Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Queen Ka'ahumanu Center, featuring entertainment, door prizes and representatives from nonprofit and community organizations. For details, contact 270-7150.

SUMMER CONCERT SERIES

Sunday, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Maui Mall

Gomega will be rockin' Maui Mall's Center Stage from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. as part of the center's free summer concert series. The event will also include drawings for free gas and other giveaways.
