Vessie Veatupu of Kahului is surrounded by colorful works of art as she waits for customers at Tau Master Island Woodcarving on Monday afternoon in Paia. Veatupu's father, Tau Veatupu, is the artist who carved the tiki and has been enjoying the craft since he was a teenager.

The business also specializes in tapa fans and purses. Located on Hana Highway, the stand is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.
