County names new executive on aging

WAILUKU - A counselor and specialist in mental health of the elderly has been named Maui County's new executive on aging, Human Concerns Director Lori Tsuhako has announced.

Deborah Arendale, a geriatric mental health specialist with the University of Hawaii, will take the county position Monday. She succeeds John Tomoso.

With a master's degree in counseling, Arendale is a licensed mental health counselor and certified substance abuse counselor with experience in a range of human services program involving both youth and elderly, according to the county announcement.

"Ms. Arendale has a wealth of experience working with many different partners in the community and will definite-

ly ensure that our community's elders will be well served," Tsuhako said.

Arendale will oversee the Maui County Office on Aging, which contracts for services for the elderly and sponsors a range of programs including adult care, assisted transportation, chore services, meal deliveries and personal care assistance.
