November 10, 2008
The Maui News

Hula dancer Aysha Limatoc (center above) wishes Kainoa Seina a happy sixth birthday Saturday at the 18th Hula O Na Keiki competition, held at the Ka'anapali Beach Hotel.

Kainoa's sister, Nikki Seina (left), joined them. All belong to the Joan Lindsey Hula Studio of Oahu and are participating in the competition. The two-day contest concluded Saturday, with Maui youths Kaysha Auli'i Vierra and Kamalei Kawa'a, both of Halau Kekuaokala'au'ala'iliahi, winning the Miss Hula O Na Keiki and Master Hula O Na Keiki crowns, respectively.

Complete contest results and photos will be published in The Maui News on Sunday. In the photo at left, Kaulana Ku'ulei Ryan of Ka Pa Hula O Ka Ulu Koa, under the direction of na kumu Kamaka'eu and Ka'ula Williams, dances to "Jungle Rain" and "Hawaiian Hula Eyes" for the crowd Saturday afternoon.
