County seeking $1.5 million Napili water storage project

November 11, 2008
The Maui News

NAPILI - The county Department of Water Supply is pursuing a $1.5 million project to install a 300,000-gallon storage tank next to its Napili Well "A" site and enlarge a pump-control building.

The deadline for contractors to submit project bids is 2 p.m. Wednesday.

The new tank will supplement other water storage in the area and be a circular, 17-foot-tall, cast-in-place reinforced-concrete or stainless-steel structure with a 53-foot diameter, according to a listing in this month's issue of the state Office of Environmental Quality Control's Environmental Notice.

The project also calls for renovating and expanding a pump-control building to replace temporary housing for chlorination equipment.

The project will be funded by federal money coming through the state's Drinking Water State Revolving Fund. Work on the project is expected to begin in early 2009 and be completed by early 2010.
