Police seek help in robbery case

KAHULUI - Police released a surveillance photo of a robber who fired two shots into a glass jewelry case, as an investigation continued into a robbery Sunday morning at Pacific Fish Market in Kahului.

No injuries were reported in the holdup at 6:24 a.m. at the business at 330 Hoohana St.

The gunman demanded money from an employee and took approximately $600 from two cash registers, as well as jewelry from two glass cases in the store.

Police said a pickup truck matching the description of the one used by the robber was recovered in Hawaiian Commercial & Sugar Co. cane field 710 at 5:09 p.m. Sunday. The field is between Pulehu and Hansen roads in Kahului.

The 2008 Chevy Colorado pickup truck was stolen from Jim Falk Motors in Kahului between 6:30 and 9:30 p.m. Saturday, police said. The vehicle was being processed for evidence Monday at the Wailuku Police Station.

Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call the police Criminal Investigation Division at 244-6425 or Maui Crime Stoppers at 242-6966.

Callers to Crime Stoppers remain anonymous and are given a code number. Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of people responsible for felony crimes.
