KAHULUI - The Kamehameha Schools Maui paddling team swept all three varsity events at the first Maui Interscholastic League regatta of the season Saturday at Kahului Harbor.
The Warriors' boys crew of Levi Alameda, Eathan Cabatingan, Preston Tavares, Devyn Tavares, Israel Gregory and Travis Motooka crossed the finish line in a time of 4 minutes, 4.51 seconds, well ahead of runner-up Baldwin (4:14.95).
The girls team of Ashley Shaffer, Kara Frampton, Diondra Gomes, Arial Kahahane, Keely Rivera and Alena Tihada won in 4:56.46, more than two seconds ahead of second-place Lahainaluna.
In the mixed division, Alameda, Cabatingan, Preston Tavares, Kahahane, Shaffer and Tihada beat out the Bears by just under nine seconds with their team of 4:31.78.
The next MIL meet is scheduled for this Saturday at Ka Lae Pohaku.
