Ceremonies tee off tournament

January 9, 2009
The Maui News

Blackhawk helicopters from Schofield Barracks on Oahu fly in formation over the Kapalua Plantation Course's first tee Thursday morning during opening ceremonies of the PGA Tour's Mercedes-Benz Championship.

The choppers made their pass after the colors were presented by a Coast Guard color guard unit out of Maalaea and the national anthem was sung by Josh Kelley (right, in photo above).

The second round of the 72-hole tournament is today.
