The Maui News

WAILUKU - Hui Malama Learning Center has openings for GED test preparation classes that will begin next month and for its High School Foundations program for students who intend to take the GED route to a high school diploma.

The test preparation classes are for students 16 and older who are eligible to take the GED test. Classes are held twice a week on a variety of schedules. Tuition is $100 per month; registration and textbook are extra.

GED stands for General Education Development and is way to certify that a person has high-school level skills.

The High School Foundation is for 14- to 15-year-old students who are not enrolled in a school and whose parents have decided that the GED track would be more appropriate for the child.

The schedule is such that students attend class twice a week from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuition is $175 per month (registration and textbook are extra), and financial aid is available for those who qualify.

The classes are based on a high-school curriculum and include core subjects such as language arts and mathematics.

For more information or to make an appointment with Registrar Linda Scott, call 244-5911 or visit the Web site at www.mauihui.org.

Hui Malama Learning Center is at 375 Mahalani St. in Wailuku.
