Original artwork by Peter Wise features surfing scenes from around the world. His paintings will be on display, along with his book, “SURF,” at Letarte Flagship Store in Paia on Friday.
Wise's passion for the waves started at a young age, as he grew up surfing Cape Cod in the '60s. His love spilled over into painting years ago; he was drawn to the sports' "poetic and athletic forms," Wise said.
"Surfing has always been a part of my background and interest," he said.
Viewers may also catch surf stars at the event, such as windsurfer Josh Stone, surfing legend Buzzy Kerbox and others.
Wise's work is found in various public and private collections, including Mead Art Gallery, Amherst College and Estee Lauder Corporate Collection.
