KAHULUI -- No water pressure, and perhaps no water at all, can be expected by Kahului residents on Saturday when a crew from the Department of Water Supply works to repair a broken valve at a water tank off Waiale Road.
The work is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The valve was broken during work to relocate an 18-inch water transmission line on Thursday night.
On Saturday, all Kahului customers can expect low water pressure. However, those at higher elevations will be most affected. That area includes the vicinity of Lihikai Elementary School bordered by Onehee Avenue, Palama Drive, South Wakea Avenue and Kaahumanu Avenue.
The Maui Lani Subdivision, in particular, Pomaikai Elementary and Maui Waena Intermediate schools, will have very low water pressure, according to the water department. This morning, Pomaikai was closed and its approximately 450 students sent home when the school lost water service.
