Chef Beverly Gannon of Hali'imaile General Store and Joe's is quite the "gal about town." Not only did she raise $50,000 to split by the Hui No'eau Visual Arts Center and the Maui Food Bank, but she's got a new book out and she'll cater a big event this weekend.
The Montessori School of Maui's first Crystal Ball event will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday at the Hui in Makawao.
"We will have fabulous entertainment with live music as well as dancing with a DJ, tarot card readers and palm readers," says Heather Haynes Drood. "The food is being done by Bev at her Celebrations Catering and she'll have food stations set up similar to the event at Hali'imaile. There will be a lounge area with an Ocean Vodka martini bar as well as a silent and live auction. Tickets are still available through the school or online and they start at $150 each."

Chef Beverly Gannon presented $25,000 to Hui Director Caroline Killhour and the same to Maui Food Bank Director Rich Yust.
There will be four different food stations, starting with the Little Italy with crab canneloni in lemon-cream sauce; penne pasta with braised oxtails; and butternut squash ravioli in sage butter and Amaretto.
The Dude Station will feature a slider bar with beef, fish and veggie patties. The Chop Chop salad station lets each guest choose ingredients. The One-Stop buffet features all of the hot entrees and there will be upscale desserts, coffee, wines and Maui beer.
As for Beverly's book, it's called "Family-Style Meals at the Hali'imaile General Store." It's now available at the restaurant and all book stores on Maui. It features family-size sit-down suppers, lunches and brunches divided into different days of the week.
