Roadwork to affect traffic

WAILUKU - Roads around Maui County will experience lane closures for upgrades and repairs this week, the Department of Transportation announced.

The closures include:

• Haleakala Highway, single-lane closures Pukalani bound, between North Firebreak Road and Haliimaile Road from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and on Friday, for median shoulder paving and truck-crossing work.

• Haleakala Highway, 24-hour single-lane closures Pukalani bound, from Keahua to Haliimaile roads, with contraflow from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Monday through Wednesday, and from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Friday. Work includes a 4-inch concrete overlay.

• Piilani Highway, alternating single-lane closures in both directions between Uwapo Road and Lipoa Parkway, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, and Friday, for pavement resurfacing.

• Kamehameha V Highway on Molokai, alternating single-lane closures in both directions between Mile Marker 2 and Mile Marker 4, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, and Friday, for resurfacing.

• Puunene Avenue, alternating single-lane closures in both directions between Kaahumanu Avenue and Kuihelani Highway from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., and from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Wednesday, and from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday.

Motorists are urged to allow for extra travel time and use caution while driving through work areas.
