George Allan, long one of Maui's most popular and successful artists, is drawing on international travel in 2007-2008 for his new exhibit, "Around the World in 30 Days," at Village Gallery. The paintings in the show are from more than 4,000 photos taken during his travels. He rounds theme out with a new array of Maui works.
Allan will give one of his inimitable oil painting demonstrations from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the gallery, 120 Dickenson St. in Lahaina. The show continues through April 9. For more information, call 661-4402.
"Exploring sacred geometry, divine essence and the beauty of the human form" is the theme of an exhibit of new paintings by Autumn Skye Morrison at Da Vine Art in Paia. An opening reception is slated for 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday. The two-day show continues from noon to 7 p.m. Sunday at the gallery, located at 149 Hana Highway in Paia.

Caf Marc Aurel presents its next group art opening at 7 p.m. Saturday at 28 N. Market St. in Wailuku. Under the heading of "Mediums Deluxe," it features professional and "spare time" artists dealing with a variety of subjects.
They share "one common banner: their ability to tap into the hidden world around us and visually present it in their own unique way," according to a release. "Like the crystal ball mystics of old, they are here to show the unordinary in the ordinary, and to draw the unorthodox out of the mundane."
