KIHEI BEAUTIFICATION DAY SEEKING HELPERS

KIHEI - Volunteers are welcome to join beautification projects Saturday morning on the north side of the Kihei Small Boat Ramp and at Kamaole Point.

The project starts at 8:30 a.m., with volunteers assembling near the boat ramp off of South Kihei Road to spread mulch on a coastal heritage trail, said Bob Richardson of the Kihei Community Association.

Around 10:30 a.m., workers will move to Kamaole Point, which is between Kamaole Beach Parks II and III, to plant native plants among dunes where seabirds nest, he said.

Work tools and gloves will be made available. Cold water also will be provided, and lunch will be provided by the Community Work Day program.

Volunteers should wear sturdy shoes and bring sunscreen.

Those planning to participate should call event organizers at 879-5390 or send e-mail to KCA2@hawaiiantel.net.
