The Maui News

KAHULUI - Maui Community College will host two of the three finalists vying to become the president of the University of Hawaii system this Thursday and on May 12.

Thursday's gathering will take place from 2:30 to 4 p.m. in the Pilina Student Lounge with M.R.C. Greenwood, a longtime leader in the University of California system.

A second finalist, Robert J. Jones, who serves as a senior academic and chief operating officer for the University of Minnesota system, will attend an open forum from 2:30 to 4 p.m. May 12, in the Pilina Multipurpose Room at MCC.

A third person is also being considered, but that candidate's visit has not been scheduled.

Candidates participating in the open forums have agreed to answer questions from the public about their backgrounds and experience. An online survey will be available for those who want to provide feedback on the candidates.

The deadline to submit feedback is May 18. Survey responses will be compiled and provided to the University of Hawaii Advisory Presidential Selection Committee to assist in making its recommendations to the UH Board of Regents.

The survey will be available at www.hawaii.edu/president.

UH President David McClain's term ends July 31.
