May 10, 2009
The Maui News

WAILUKU - Parents of current 6th- and 7th-graders at Iao Intermediate School are invited to a meeting on Thursday to discuss the block scheduling system to be implemented next school year.

The gathering will be held, beginning at 6:30 p.m., in the school's Dining Center.

Beginning next school year, Iao School will be going to a block scheduling system. Instead of having all classes each school day, students will be going to four classes on Mondays and Thursdays and another four classes on Tuesdays and Fridays. On Wednesdays, students will attend all classes.

Class periods will go from about 45 minutes to 70 minutes.

Parents of current 5th-graders in Wailuku and Waihee elementary schools, who will be entering Iao next school year, will receive information from Principal Catherine Kilborn when she gives presentations at their schools.

For more information, call Iao School at 984-5610, Monday through Friday, from 7:45 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
