Roadwork will lead to delays for drivers
WAILUKU - Roadwork will cause delays and closures on a number of Maui County roadways this week.
* On Haleakala Highway, various single-lane closures or lane shifts will occur in the Pukalani-bound direction between North Firebreak Road and the Pukalani cutoff from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Friday. Shoulder paving, guardrail work and striping are being done as part of the final phase of installing a 4-inch concrete overlay on the uphill portion of the highway.
* On Hana Highway from Milepost 19.2 near the Wailua Lookout to Milepost 21, traffic will be stopped intermittently for rock-scaling operations and debris removal from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Friday.
* Lahainaluna Road will be closed from Kelawea Street to Ikena Avenue through Sunday for roadwork related to the Honoapiilani Highway realignment. There will be no access between Ikena Avenue and Lahainaluna Road, and traffic will be detoured around the area.
* On Kamehameha V Highway on Molokai, alternating single-lane closures in both directions will occur between Milepost 11 and Milepost 13 from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. through Friday for pavement resurfacing. There also will be intermittent closures of the turning lane from westbound Kamehameha V Highway onto Ala Malama Road in the northbound direction from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for storm drain modifications.
The roadwork is weather permitting. Drivers are asked to use caution in these areas and plan for extra travel time.
