May 30, 2009
The Maui News

Kamali'i Elementary School 4th-grader Noelle Pierce, 10, joins classmates in performing a surf-themed hula during the 13th annual Kamali'i Ho'olaule'a on Friday morning.

Noelle said that dancing for the crowd was the best part of the event, and she was proud to represent her grade.

First-grade teacher Melissa Ryan helps lead students in the hula from her spot up on a hill Friday morning.

The festivities included a performance by students in each grade as well as a procession of the royal court.

Family, friends and supporters packed the field area as the students put on the show.
