Work on county roads will cause delays, closures

WAILUKU - State Department of Transportation roadwork will cause delays and closures on a number of Maui County roadways this week.

* Hana Highway between milepost 19.2 and milepost 21, near Wailua Lookout, will have traffic stoppages from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday for rock scaling operations and debris removal.

* Honoapiilani Highway will have single-lane closures at the Halawai Drive intersection in Kaanapali from 9 p.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Thursday for a waterline installation.

* Piilani Highway will have alternating one- and two-lane closures from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday for pavement marking and sign installation.

* Lahainaluna Road will be closed from Kelawea Street to Ikena Avenue from Monday through June 21 for work related to the Lahaina bypass road. There will be no vehicle access between Ikena Avenue and Lahainaluna Road. Motorists will be detoured in the area.

* Puunene Avenue will have a right-lane closure between Kaahumanu Avenue and Kuihelani Highway in the Kihei-bound direction from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday for sidewalk installation.

* Kamehameha V Highway on Molokai will have alternating single-lane closures in both directions between Milepost 7.9 and Milepost 11.3 from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday for storm drain and pavement work.

Roadwork will be done, weather permitting. Drivers should be careful driving through construction areas and allow extra time for travel.
