Maui team to play for third place at Big League regional

BREMERTON, Wash. --- The Hawaii District 3 (Maui) All-Stars lost 7-1 to Southern California's Thousand Oaks in the semifinal round of the Big League Western Regional on Thursday.

The loss puts Hawaii in Friday's third-place game while Southern California advanced to the championship with a chance to earn a spot in the Big League World Series.

Hawaii earned a spot in the semifinals with a second-place finish in its pool. Hawaii fell 6-5 to Nevada, the Pool A winner, on Wednesday.
