Molokai man’s bail set at $25K after alleged rear-ending, brawl
HOOLEHUA, Molokai - Bail was set at $25,000 for a Hoolehua man who was arrested early Sunday when Molokai police responded to a Hoolehua intersection.
Through investigation, police determined that Woodrow "Blue" Poepoe, 56, had rear-ended another vehicle at Moomomi and Hauakea avenues, said acting Capt. Jayson Rego of the Molokai Patrol District. He said that when the driver pulled over, Poepoe challenged the 24-year-old man to a fight.
Poepoe had chased the other driver after a fight at a Hoolehua residence, where Poepoe hit the other man over the head with a chair, Rego said. He said the victim suffered minor injuries.
He said there wasn't major damage to the victim's vehicle, which was bumped from behind by the vehicle that Poepoe was driving.
The victim complained of pain after the collision. His passenger, a 22-year-old woman, wasn't injured.
Poepoe, who was arrested when police responded to the 2:15 a.m. call, was charged with first-degree criminal property damage and second-degree assault.
