A cultural exchange in canoes in Kihei

August 6, 2009
The Maui News

Kihei Canoe Club members take students from Jissen Girls High School of Japan for a ride in a double-hulled canoe Wednesday at Ka Lae Pahaku Beach.

The students, who are being hosted by local families during their 10-day stay on Maui, have also visited Haleakala National Park, Iao Valley, Lahaina's Sugar Cane Train and Puunene's Sugar Cane Museum.

The cultural exchange with Kihei Canoe Club was part of the club's Halau Maui Nui o Kama program.
